Shiloh

Today has been a stressful and sad day at our house. When we got up today Shiloh couldn't use her back legs and I had to carry her to go potty. We took her to the vet and she has had some kind of disc misplacement in her back - I don't remember all the proper terminology! They gave her a steroid shot and we are giving her some steroid pills in hopes that the swelling will go away and she will be able to get better without having to have surgery! If the steroids do not work and surgery is the only option we will have to make a VERY HARD decision weds. morning when we go back to the vet. It is just not possible for us to pay a couple thousand dollars for her to have surgery.
There have been a lot of tears today and lots of prayers for our sweet doggy! I have been a crying fool all day! I didn't realize how much a family member the Dog was until today and the thought of having to make this choice is possibly upon us.

  1. Oh Jules, I'm SO SO sorry. Our dog died suddenly a few weeks ago, so I completely understand how heart-wrenching this whole thing can be. :( praying for God's peace (and healing) to be with you guys! xo

  2. we had to make that very same decision 10 years ago, and I still remember it. Hard to do, but it was not our child, and I couldn't justify the cost, especially if something happened to one of the children, and I was already in debt because of the dog. Praying for you.

  3. My heart goes out to you. I'm sorry that you had to go through that. They do feel like family but sometimes tough decisions must be made. My dog, Cinders, had the same thing happen to her over 10 years ago now. Our options were to put her down or have her in a wheel chair. So, with heavy hearts, we had her put down. She was over 13yo so she had lived a full, happy life.
